Voilah! French Festival Singapore 2011

I wanted to start off this post by thanking the organiser for inviting me to attend the press preview of Voilah! French Festival Singapore 2011. It was eye-opening for me on many levels, but first, it was an honour to step foot onto the residence of the  Ambassador of France to Singapore, Mr. Oliver Caron. It was raining, so I didn’t take a picture since I’ve got an umbrella on one hand and the other, well, not doing much. But you get the idea. I was trying to balance myself on high heels while walking up the slope and steps. The picturesque residence makes one forget one is in Spore, except for the humidity. But I did get a picture inside the house!

The living room was transformed into what feels like autumn (though not necessary, I have to credit them for the nice thought). Hossan Leong was the host and he definitely made everything more digestible with his bite-size humour 🙂

From 25 October to 15 December 2011 (that’s a long stretch huh!), the Voilah! French Festival is back for its 4th installment. There’s music, art, cinema, dance, gastronomy, sports and literature, but I am sure to catch:

Just Before Midnight @ Alliance Française on 12 Nov 11 –  Love love ballet!!

Off The Wall – Down By Law In Singapore, Lah! – I learnt that graffiti is the first international art (can you imagine?), and there’ll be a live graff jam on 19 Nov 11, 6pm – 10pm. I’m excited just by the mere thought!

La Paulé De Singapour @ Fort Canning on 4 Dec 11 – French wine + French food + French music all in 1 afternoon? I’m gonna be there.

rendezvouswithfrenchcinema.sg – website is not up yet, cos it commences in Dec 11

Dreams & Reality: Masterpieces of Painting, Drawing & Photography From the Musée D’orsay, Paris (26 Oct 11 – 5 Feb 12 @ National Museum Of Singapore) – don’t think I can resist going to this exhibition; i don’t have to buy an air-ticket to Paris to enjoy them. Entrance fee is only $11. 🙂

There was even a mini fashion show to promote Women’s Fashion Week (26 – 30 Oct 11) @ Marina Bay Sands. Free entry! Can’t wait for the festival to unfold! 🙂
