《哈哈歌》’The Haha Song’ MV Shoot

This MV shoot was actually scheduled way before the actual release of the album. I had initially scheduled for the shoot to be in Sept 2012… but I could only manage to release the album sometime in Apr/May 2013. The planning to do the shoot was already in the works, and so we decided to go ahead with it first… in Aug 2012!

What was exciting about this music video was, I arranged for my awesome pledgers (supporters who had pledged funds for my new album via Pledgemusic) to be involved in the MV shoot. I was a little apprehensive because I wasn’t sure how so many people could be involved, but all thanks to the director Jimmy at Filmotion, we did it! We first had a meet-up to brief each participant, and it turned out that they needed to prepare placards or posters with the words “Haha” or “哈哈”). I didn’t imagine that they had to do so much on top of their time for the shoot, but I understand the sentiments behind the director’s idea – it will be very cool to see the works of the supporters in the video too. In this way, everyone will be more involved creatively 🙂

The shoot started around 8am that morning… there was a lot of waiting around , esp since there were so many people involved, but we only had one day to do this, so it was always better to have people ready on standby -_-

Before I go on, I really need to thank LollyTalk for kindly sponsoring SO MANY GOOD-LOOKING (and yummy) candies for this MV (see 2 separate blog entries on my thoughts on the candies here (‘New candy store in town’) and here (‘Album Launch Concert’).

We had 2 locations – the first one is a friend’s apartment with a huge white-washed wall:

And here we have Andy and Kaixin, the lead actor and actress:

I was also really excited to bring in 2 of my friends’ children for the shoot (below, L-R) – Klaudia & Louise (they were really thrilled they got to doll up with make-up):

The second shoot in the afternoon was at one of Singapore’s reservoir, can you guess which one?

And the kind supporters who rooted for me with their time, sweat and efforts. (Above: L-R: Kelvin, whom you might recognise from local movie ‘That Girl In Pinafore‘, and twins Fion and Jenielle). Other than the super crew involved, I’d also like to thank Michelle & Phoebe, Christina & Sian Leong & Joel, Beldin, Chunqi, Klaudia’s family, Louise’s family, and everyone else involved in one way or another. This MV will always be special to me. just because all of you are involved.
