I overheard the most hilarious conversation at a wedding recently:

Bride was waiting outside ballroom for her 2nd march-in.

Auntie #1 (to bride, ecstatic and animated): “Hey! Do you know who I am!?”

Bride (rolled her eyes in the best efforts to recall): “….yes…err…you are my mother’s auntie’s err…”

Auntie #1:”What your mother’s auntie!? Hahahahahah….”

Bride smiled sheepishly, still trying to make wild guesses to appease Auntie #1 so as not to appear rude. Bride recognised Auntie #2 who had been standing along Auntie #1 all along: “I know she’s my mother’s cousin….”

Auntie #2: “Yes, I’m your mother’s cousin, and she (points to Auntie #1) is my sister!”

Auntie #1: “Yes, so I’m also your mother’s cousin!” (Let out loud laughter)

Bride:”Oh~~!!” (Let out nervous laughter)

Poor bride.

Thank you to all the familiar faces I see that day. Be it coincidence or that you came all the way  to give your support, seeing your faces brightened my day (the clouds were looming threateningly).

Thank you to all the unfamiliar faces. It might be your first time hearing my songs, and I hoped you were sufficiently touched to spare some cash for this good cause.

This performance was smacked right in the middle of 2 other shows, and the drizzle before the performance didn’t help cos I was worried that the rain may keep the crowd away. But the universe has ways of working things out - the rain stopped just before our segment!

Feel like sharing a ‘breezy’ song with you (NB. dorks are ‘in’ now, so pls don’t act cool.  acting cool is ‘out’):

The lyrics is so plain yet to the point. Interestingly, this could have been a mandarin song. Hmmm.

Another charity gig I’m going to be involved, this time round for the Mercy Aid Concert, in support of Mercy Relief’s Typhoon Morakot Humanitarian Efforts. The performance is completely FREE of charge, so pls head down to catch our performances over this weekend.

19 Sept 09_MercyAidConcert

I’ll be performing songs from my album at 4pm sharp. Venue is Bugis Junction (near the fountain area). Even though the performance is free, pls don’t come empty-handed, we’re doing this just because we hope you can lend your support, financially, for this good cause.

These are just some of the songs I’ll be doing:

当我八十岁 (When I’m 80), La Vie En Rose, 新不了情,Lonely Afternoon, When you say nothing at all…and more..

If you’re planning to come down, let me know what you wanna hear! I’ll be there with my big-hearted power friends, Jixiang on guitar, Matthew on keyboard, and Jonathan Lim on saxophone.

Hope to see you there!

Ok, so I’m no longer indie, but I’m proud to say I’ve strode out indie and been in that phase before to appreciate the process of album-making. This blog entry is dedicated to my indie friends who are throwing a performance next week. The ‘organiser’ is one of the indie artist Yet, who is making this a first in Singapore, and he hopes to make it an annual event to celebrate local music.

So do lend your support by checking them out. Bring many friends along so it’ll be all the merrier!

Yes I’ve been lazy to blog…but also mainly cos I don’t feel a need to blog..I’ve been too busy experimenting with music, and….having fun!

I’m sad that Alicia is back to Italy, but well, I will go visit her next year. Venice is one of the spots on earth I gotta go, and she’s a good reason for me to book a ticket there! Though I hope I’ll not be the Philips lightbulb between Tienyao and his wife when we go there together. :(

Anyways, a couple of my favourite youtube links for this past month:

After watching this clip, I really feel like I should shut up everytime I want to whine about something. Like, ”Get your act together Bevlyn!”

And this, is how I wanna live when I’m a grandmother:

I saw this dancing uncle with my own eyes some time ago, and I was totally drawn in by his non-chalent attitude. He is cooooool.

And I was so appalled after watching Blood Diamond on TV, and after reading this article: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/198202/diamond

I don’t need a diamond. Can I have erm, blue sapphire? On second thoughts, it’s okay, just give me the monie, I’ll happily go buy a red baby grand piano.
