My pick is Adam Lambert. I’m usually not into beautiful men like him, but boy, he has so much substance to back his good looks up it’s unbelievable. He is

- creative (I dig how he strips each song and makes it his own)

- very emotive - check this video out, my goosebumps just popped out

- most importantly, very consistent in upping his own standards at each stage of the competition.

He is the REAL artist!

Guys if you try to sing his songs, don’t. He is singing in female’s key - MY key.

Who’s your pick? :)

Introducing the 2 energetic boys of Gabriel Mendes:

Yang

Jay

I was pleasantly surprised (actually I was laughing infront of the PC) when I first saw what Gabriel blogged). Then when he asked me if I was ready for the 2nd surprise, I thought it’s gonna be a photo of himself holding my album as he had mentioned earlier. But ta-dah it’s the 2 cute boys - Yang who seemed a bit shy, and Jay happily showing my album to the camera! My heart literally melted :’)

And when I went past HMV at Citilink with Tien-yao last Wed, we were both surprised to see this:

Thanks to all of you who have bought a copy (or more) of the album, I am really touched. Hopefully there’ll be a performance soon so I can say my thanks in person! :D

Is there such a thing as coincidence?

This period of time is simply weird for me.

I’m beginning to believe more in more in destiny. Do things happen for a reason? Yes I think so. Good or bad. I’m beginning to believe lesser in randomness and ‘chaotism’.

I’m beginning to believe more and more that we don’t meet people due to coincidence.  It is fate.  Friends you bumped into on the streets - I think it’s fate. People you were introduced to meet across the globe - I think it’s fate. Winning a lottery - I think it’s fate. Strings of events  that seemed too incredible to believe in, it is still fate - if it’s too incredulous for you to believe they are actually happening,  you’re the problem, not fate itself. Life is only unfolding itself for your eyes to see, over the passing of time.

And I believe too that I’m at the end of this current life cycle. A new one is beginning very soon.

And I’m ready to leap.

I’ve been wanting to blog about these 2 local acts:

1. RazzlePlay

Vincent (leader and electric guitarist of the band) and I both agree that, doing a DIY album by oneself stretches one thin, but to have a whole band with each one having their own ideas, that’s chaotic! But RazzlePlay did it, and I have to say I am very impressed by their efforts, dedication, what they’ve thus far achieved (one of their songs are on the charts of 1003 now!), and what’s coming down the pipeline!

And if you’ve actually missed this tight and energetic band completely so far, you’re welcome to drop by to the series of free performances (5 Saturdays) they have lined up for you, with the first one beginning on 26 Apr, all over Singapore. Check out the dates here! Preview one of their hit songs here.

2. Matthew Quek

If you had heard Matthew sing, his passion for music could hardly escape you. He had recently gotten the famed jazz artiste Jeremy Monteiro to produce and play for his 5th album (5th!!). I was awed when I learnt from Matthew that this album was ‘done’ in 4 separate recording sessions (only!).  Here are some clips from the album. This, is my favourite.

If you’re keen to hear him ‘ live’, catch him @ HMV (Orchard Heeren) on 1st May @ 7pm. The actual launch is on 10 May @ Love The World Soul Rock Bistro & Bar (singapore flyer) #02-05. RSVP here.

Ta-dahh! Here are some of my Melbourne photos. There are many more, but I filled out all miserly 60 slots in Facebook’s album. Anyways.

Can’t wait for my next holidays :)

Thanks to Mr Samuel Lee for his support! :)

I only got to see and touch my own album when I met Dengli for dinner on Sat. Who would have thought that I’d have another album this year? I was prepared not to have another one after the EP album cos of financial reasons…While I know of people out there who bought the album, truth is, a substantial amount of people pirate it. So what’s the point of continuing to do DIY albums if I have to live off air?

So, to have the opportunity to continue my passion, I am most grateful. The best way to show support is to buy the authentic album! That is the best and most direct way to let my record label (and me) know that this album is a good idea. :)

Bevlyn - You Are My Angel 04042009

And I’m honoured to have Caramel be my Official Wardrobe Stylist! They have gorgeous tea-dresses, elaborate evening dresses, and from Mel the funky stylist’s mouth, the spring-summer dresses are already here!  Check out the masterpieces at www.caramel.com.sg. I love the dresses to bits! Btw, the dresses I wore for the album’s photoshoot are also courtesy of Caramel. :)

My band and I did the opening gig for the fashion show week on 19 Mar 09. And this dress is designed by Mel!

According to my dependable source, my new album “You Are My Angel” is now available at HMV, That CD Shop, MJ Multimedia, CD Plus, New Village, Roxy Disc, Ears, and Chinatown shops (most except Sembawang Music & Gramophone)…in Singapore. [Edit: Now available at Gramophone outlets as well]

It’s also available in Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong now.

In 2 weeks’ time, it’ll be available in Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea & Philippines.

For people in China, hmm…let me check it out first :)

I just got back from Melbourne, and it was such a heart-in-the-mouth experience. I nearly missed the flight for to and back, was lost for 1.5hrs when I first got there (imagine that), saw fewer than 10 penguins at the renowned penguin parade. But of course there were great moments too, reading my time away at Fitzroy Garden, fantastic vietnamese food, snapping photos and rekindled my love for my not-so-good photography, meeting nice people during day tours, was asked point-blank by a Korean guy if I ‘got boyfriend?’ (Juliet was so jealous when I told her this lol), and etc.

Anyway. Hard work begins next week. I need zzzzzzz now…

This musical I’ve just caught in Melbourne is probably the best thing that happened to me for this trip…

I’ve always loved this movie/book/musical. It’s insane how it can provoke strong emotions in me everytime I watch it. If there’s a way to help me not cry (for once) when I watch this show… honestly I don’t want to know.

I wanna feel the electricity, the sparks, I wanna feel free. I wanna keep that part, that is so often drowned out by everyone’s expectations of myself. I should know what I can bring out of myself best. As with everyone else.

Just be true to yourself.
