Less than4 hours to being onboard. Been deliberating about having a holiday before the release of the new album…when I finally get down to choosing a location and looking at my schedule, I realised it’s less than 2 weeks away! Anyway I booked the flight tickets and hotel on Mon, and had been trying to do up an itinerary for the past few days whenever I can find time. Now I think 5 days is a bit short for Melbourne :(

Am touring alone. Good friends with good intentions tried to warn me against accepting drinks from strangers, erm, must be back at hotel by 9pm, don’t go to dodgy streets (like I know where) blah blah, coupled with some hotel ghost stories…it’s freaking me out! Hsin even went as far as telling me a completely morbid story which made my hair stand. Honestly, I just want to relax but preparing for a holiday is just as stressful :(

Ah! I’m gonna do my best to embrace the sights and wind of Melbourne anyway. :)

My album’s out next Thu, and I’ll be back on Fri. Hope to have your support! Drop me a message after you’ve heard the music!

I went to watch Duffy’s concert last Sun… it was a totally mind-blowing experience - her vocals are just too incredible.

Her songs….I don’t know, they have the same healing effects as Rachael Yamagata’s music. The songs are strongly influenced by the blues, and the stingy lyrics - they  just suck me in and spurn me in that little corner again. My current favourite is (did you notice what changes in the mtv? Amazing idea):

Love love love Warwick Avenue and Mercy too…Listen to the strings.

I love Brian McKnight from his ‘One last cry’ days. I nearly missed his concert if Calvin hadn’t insisted I watch it. And I was so thankful to Calvin 5min into the concert…he’s really inspiring. Many a times I found myself wanting to tear when he sang the slow numbers. I am so jealous of the girl who was invited on to the stage; he surprised her with the big bouquet of ROSES.  :(

I am so inspired to write songs now!

I am so in love with this girl. How many children still jump for joy when they get simple things like that? This is so pure:

And check out this video which shows the devious side of her.

Juliet and I were restless and we decided to be tarzans! We went to Forest Adventure under the recommendation of a good friend, and truth was, we had no idea what was in for us..we just knew it was an obstacle course ..

During the briefing I was already swearing and cursing at the friend who recommended us to go, and I lost track of how many “Why are we here?” I said. The instructor Joe asked us “You never saw the videos online meh?” - No, Joe, we didn’t, we just trusted our friend –> okok we’re sometimes quite bimbos.

There were like 4-5 flying foxes (which were fun), and many other obstacles involving heights, climbing rope ladders, balancing, trying not to touch big red ants with our bare hands, Juliet trying to keep her back to a spider etc. I think all in all this was our favourite moment:

Ice-cream girls <– My favourite ice-cream! So nostalgic huh!

Anyway, after all the yelling and screaming, I wanna go back again because it’s SO FUN!

On a totally different note, check this child prodigy, she is one hell of a singer:

I was totally knocked out for Sun and Mon cos of sleep deprivation!

The reporting and rehearsal started at 1130am (I had to leave my french class halfway, so sad..). It was a whole day of waiting…and the truth is, I was hoping I could go off for 5 hrs and do something more constructive in between (like do up my demos or watch a great movie). Luckily the people I was hanging out with (Razzleplay, Yet Dunhong, Kewei) were FUN! We caught cheer chen doing her soundcheck and I went wild.

Spore E-Awards - Cheer Chen

At the post-concert party, we met many superstars like Stephanie Sun, Cheer Chen, Aska Yang, Luo Zhi Xiang, JJ blah blah blah..it’s so surreal to see these people in real life. It’s exciting to see them, but at the same time I felt…bored haha. I mean, I have never like PR stuff :p

I am more touched than anything, that the organiser bothers to set up an award for the indie (independent) scene. The truth is, they do not have to, because the general public will not kick up a fuss with or without this award since the attention is usually set on popstars with strong backings from major labels. Setting up an award for the local indie artistes hence, shows unprecedented ‘official’ appreciation for the local musicians who have been using their own resources to generate music to the general public.

I was more shocked than anything to learn that I have won this award. I am humbled because the other nominees and I, we have been through the same tedious paths of creating our own music, sourcing musicians/arrangers/producers, funding our records with hard-earned savings, finding our ways and delivering our own cds to cd stores, and basically doing our own marketing shamelessly (website/myspace/concert or performance venue spaces etc).

Honestly, when I first decided to do the EP album, going on hit charts or getting awards of any sort was not in my wildest dreams, I swear. My only hope…was that I wouldn’t be left with too many unsold CD pieces at the end of all attempts to put my music out there…

Can’t wait to attend the event this Sat! It’ll be at the Marina Bay Floating Platform Grandstand…looking forward to that! More details here.

I am so grateful…I don’t know what to do with all these blessings!
