I finally watched this movie last night, and it certainly didn’t disappoint me, a strong supporter of the book.  It even inspired me to write a song called “Anymore” for a good friend of mine. The day the book saw the light of day, suddenly the veil was lifted, the bulb was lighted for all women –> ta-dah! It’s such a straight-forward concept, and it clearly shows how simple men really are, and how complex women have always been. Damn the fairytale books. Well ladies in case you haven’t noticed, there is always only one princess and one prince in the fairytale, so he ain’t got much choice.

I’ve always believed that women should never make the first move.  If he is really that into you, he will find all ways and means to make you his. i.e. you do not have to find excuses on his behalf.

On 1 side note, I finally know why I was a little uncomfortable with the role played by Scarlett Johansson. The stereotype is almost laughable now that I think about it –> A struggling singer undecided about who she wants to be with, has loose moral values, seduces married men and breaks up families, and to top it off, blonde. Casting director, HELLO?!!! It just couldn’t be as convincing if it’s another kind of occupation huh. Berk!

I don’t think I will ever forget this gig at Seascape Gallery, which is actually a show-flat converted into a dining hall.

When I arrived at the carpark, I was blown away by the sight of the clear water and the yachts - I love yachts! I always wonder who owns them, and if I will ever get the chance to be on one?

One of the staff from Ho Bee, Caroline, was so warm and even insisted that we visit the show-flat!

This is the mock-up of the entire estate (left)… The balcony of each unit is shaped like the bow of a ship, so when you sit down in the living hall, you can imagine yourself on a ship looking out towards the sea:

The interiors are also very sleekly furnished. Basically the four of us were blown away.

I hope whoever earns enough to buy this kind of residence contributes A LOT to charity as well. Speaking of donating, you may be interested to contribute your love story to a lovely couple whom I’m going to sing for in Aug. In my years of wedding-singing, this has been unheard of - they’re compiling short love stories from anyone (anonymous or not) as their wedding favours. I can’t wait to read the final product. If you love mush, this is the time to be mushy: http://www.love-stories-project.blogspot.com/

Yes I just turned 30. And loving it. There was no big bang party like some comet’s gonna hit the earth or something like that. I mean, how should hitting 30 feel like? There’s no universal feeling to it right? Just when everyone’s teasing me about hitting the big 3, strangely, I feel that life has just begun. Like I’m reliving my 20s, only now with more wisdom, assurance, love for myself, and, more money of course haha. It feels excellent.

My 1st birthday celebration was a lovely surprise disguised as a casual lunch with my business partner Hsin, who ‘lured’ me to California Pizza Kitchen, and ta-dah, to my surprise, 4 other musician friends were there (each holding up the big menu to hide their faces from me). I’ll always remember that sight :D

A Little Dream on 18 Feb 09

And my endearing French class classmates threw me a surprise birthday party too (another girl Hooi Ping shares the same birthday as me!). Of course the birthday song was sung in French lol:

At my humble request, my childhood friends agreed to eat Indian food. How time flies, now we’ve 2 babies in the grp!

And of course my helium pills Dengli, Tien-yao, Joey at my fav French resto - Fresh & French at Vivocity:

Imagine my surprise when I got my 2nd bluetooth headpiece in a day - I was chided by Tien-yao for not crossing out items on my birthday list - err, but I wouldn’t know in advance right? (More photos)

Thank you to each and everyone who remembers my birthday (honestly I was very touched by the flood of smses, facebook/msn msgs, it’s a gesture I never take for granted).  And of course the cards and presents (some still travelling from overseas - one of which my gfs told me I just might get only in April - who waits that long for a birthday present!? –> me).

Counting down to the end of Feb… short and sweet.

A Little Dream AGM-Wacky

My business partner and I for A Little Dream usually holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for our ‘colleagues’  i.e. fun-loving pianists, guitarists, bassist, violinist, percussionist, saxophonists, singers etc, along with their spouses/kids/bf/gf/potentials etc. Last 2 year it was at Jon Lim’s house so it was more wacky with Wii and Cranium (yes we still failed when we had to guess song titles). This year was at the function room of Serene’s condominum estate, no games, but we all got to talk more! Definitely no presentation on boring agendas or goals for 2009 and beyond etc. We just ate, talked, drank, joked.

Yes it’s corny I know, but well, we’re a huge group so it was about the best spot to take photo! (And it was still like half the group missing!). More photos here.

I’ve finally finished recording!!!

An extremely tiring one, 6hrs, it was tough and at one point I even felt a sugar low. But it was comforting to see my producers had mountains of patience…

Anyway, now it’s play time! I’m gonna be a Tasmania for bah kwa, pineapple tarts, dark chocs, popcorns, movies and erm, more crabs?

Here’s something you all must watch:

We were supposed to record the last song tonight, but i was not in good form so we recorded only the verses only. Not going ahead is great :)

So in order to cheer myself up, I’m gonna blog about this joke I cracked accidentally (Actually I’m just scared I’ll forget how funny I can be). On msn, topic was what flavour of ice-cream we like:

Friend: “i grew up loving vanilla.”
dun like chocolate”
any form of chocolate

Me: “i dun like choc ice-cream too. i like choc in bras”
“OOPS”
“i MEAN BARS!”

When I arrived at Esplanade’s carpark on Tue, turned a corner and saw lot 221 and lot 223 loaded with cars, and lot 222 empty, I was like “Wow”. 222 –> My birthday. Like, the slot was reserved for me (Validation, albeit false, #1)

On the way home, I was at this traffic junction and saw this caucasian couple standing right in the middle playing clapping games (??!!), then breaking into a hot passionate kiss –> What were they trying to prove? (Validation #2)

Then Eadwine forwarded this video to me. The video is titled ‘Validation’. It’s a must watch. Brought tears to my eyes. (Validation #3).

Ok just being random to stay calm before the final recording…. :-)

3 thoughts after watching:
1. I wish I have her diaphragm power.
2. Who wrote the lyrics?
3. I’m so glad she’s not my mom.
